The summer is coming to an end, but there is still plenty of time to take your family on a wonderful trip that they will remember until next summer. What’s more, you do not need to even leave Pennsylvania or spend lots of money to create special moments for you and your family.

Here are the top 3 places in the state to take your family before school is back in session:

1. Hershey

There is no need to fly all the way down to Disney World and spend a fortune to make your kids’ fantasies come to life. When you think of Hershey, you probably think of chocolate, but the town also has its very own theme park based on chocolate: Hersheypark.

At Hersheypark, while continuously enjoying the aroma of fresh chocolate, you will find amusement rides, a water park and even a zoo. They also have a wonderful museum and a chocolate lab where you and your kids can make and taste your own chocolate.

Hershey is further only a short distance from Columbus, where you can learn how to make ice cream at the Turkey Hill Experience. You can taste these concoctions as well.

2. Gettysburg

Gettysburg has it all. Not can you and your children learn about one of the most important battles in the history of our country, but there are also incredible views there and plenty of wonderful fresh air, too. Gettysburg is also easy on your pocketbook. You can tour Gettysburg National Military Park for free and many of the museums in the area are inexpensive as well, such as the Explore and More Museum, where your kids can play in an authentic 19th-century general store.

There are also a number of historic homes in Gettysburg that you can tour, and at the Victorian Photography Studio your family can get its picture taken while wearing Civil War-era clothing and gear like the ones you may find at Dressbarn.

3. Lancaster County

Lancaster County is home to a large population of Amish people, but it is much more than just that. There you will find lots of wonderful museums and other attractions where you and your children can both experience history and have a good time.

At the Landis Valley Village and Farm Museum, you can experience firsthand what life was like on farms back in the 18th and 19th centuries. There are more than 100 acres to explore. You can also visit the Amish Farm and House to learn how the Amish really live.

Lancaster County is also home to Dutch Wonderland, where you and your kids can ride Dutch-theme amusement rides such as a log flume. They also have live shows there, and like at Disney World, there are costumed characters all over the park to meet and greet your children.

In conclusion, anyone of the above destinations can provide a perfect ending to the summer before your kids go back to school. Another terrific way to end the summer is to visit The Shops @Rockvale for the very best deals on clothing, furniture and a whole lot more.
